Polar BodyAge® system marks a revolution in training, giving a fitness assessment based on the body’s vital statistics. Everyone using the Polar BodyAge® system gets a completely unique and thorough assessment of their physical body age. The assessment provides you with a BodyAge score indicating whether you are above or below your current biological age. Chronologically you may be 30 years old, but physiologically you may be 50. This is dependent on several factors including resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, muscular strength, aerobic fitness, heart disease factors and more. This technology is unique and we are proud to say that we are one of few fitness centers to have it.

The Mansfield YMCA and LIVESTRONG are teaming up to provide a physical activity program for cancer survivors in our community. LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a twelve-week, small group program designed for adult cancer survivors. This program fulfills the important need of supporting the increasing number of cancer survivors who find themselves in the transitional period between completing their cancer treatment and the shift to feeling physically and emotionally strong enough to attempt to return to their normal life or their "new normal". The program is conducted outside of medical facilities to emphasize that LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is about health, not a disease.
Our goal is to help participants build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes and improving energy levels and self-esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their recovery but as a way of life. In addition to the physical benefits, the program provides participants with a supportive environment and a feeling of community with their fellow survivors, YMCA staff, and members.
YMCA fitness instructors work with each participant to fit the program to their individual needs. The instructors are trained in the elements of cancer, post rehab exercise, and supportive cancer care.
"I also wanted to let you (and the LiveStrong at the YMCA training team!) that I have been really encouraged by the program so far. What a blessing to combine a support group with building physical strength." -LIVESTRONG at the YMCA Participant

Enhance®Fitness is an evidence-based group exercise program for older adults that uses simple, easy-to-learn movements that motivate individuals (particularly those with arthritis) to stay active throughout their life.
Here are some of the changes our participants have noticed:
- More energy
- Better balance
- Increases in the upper body and lower body strength
- More flexibility and range of motion
- Better sleep
- More feelings of happiness
- Sense of independence
In addition to the physical benefits, research has shown that, among older adults who participate in Enhance®Fitness, health costs were lowered each year by close to $1,000.
Our aim: To help you feel better
Each class session includes cardiovascular, strength training, balance and flexibility exercises and the fostering of strong social relationships between participants. Enhance®Fitness is geared toward older adults. Those with a chronic condition, such as arthritis, need not worry; they will never have to do anything that hurts. Participants can use chairs for support, if necessary, and increase the weight they use for strength training at their own pace.
