MANSFIELD – The Mansfield Area Y announced Monday that its water splash pad park, located at 750 Scholl Rd., will be open to the public next summer.
It had been originally scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend. "The Mansfield Area Y regrets to (announce) that the Splash Pad Park slated to open Memorial Day of this year will now be delayed into 2019," said Sara Baker, director of development and marketing for the YMCA. "This delay is beyond the control of the YMCA staff and contractors.
"We will be providing updates as they become available. Thank you for your understanding."Splash park construction has been delayed due to permitting issues beyond the Y’s control, according to a press release. However, construction will resume soon and should be completed by this fall.
Rain Drop Products of Ashland is waiting for construction to be completed in order to install inclusive, water-spraying creature features that will make this park unlike any other.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held prior to opening next summer.
